How
did your band come together?
ANSWER-
Jamison Ernest went to go see his two friends John Philippidis and Steven Delopoulos
play at the inkwell coffee shop in NJ. As he watched them perform he saw the vision
of a great band. He began to manage the two cousins and in a short period of time
put the rest of the band together and the rest is history.
Your
style is unlike anything that has been heard in the Christian music scene before.
Who are your influences and is this what you imagined when you started the band?
ANSWER-
The influences are Greek, Italian, Latin and whatever comes into the bands minds
as they are playing. What we imagine and what really happens are usually not the
same so we just leave the plan in Gods hands, it's a lot more stressful that way.
How
did you come up with the name “Burlap to Cashmere” and what is its significance?
ANSWER-
A friend of Steven named the band and at the time it had no significance but as
time goes on it means many things to us and we hope that one day we will be in
the Cashmere stage but right now we are still Burlap.
How
have you enjoyed touring with Jars of Clay? Have there been any special things
happen that you will look back on?
ANSWER-jars
of Clay tour has been the best. They are the greatest guys to be with and we have
learned so much from them. The special thing that happened to us was when on the
first day of our tour our van broke down 3 times. We finally had to leave it and
rent a car for the entire tour, the reason it was special was because it was a
great lesson in survival, after this tour anything else will be a breeze.
Your
debut album has been very successful. Many (including myself) have enjoyed your
creativity and talent. What are your thoughts on your first album and what are
your ideas and plans for a new one?
ANSWER-We
really enjoyed our album but what really made us happy was the great response
that we got from our fans. It was so rewarding to hear that the music changed
their lives in a good way and brought them closer to God. Some fans wrote to us
letting us know that it saved them from Suicide, drugs, alcohol, depression, we
never expected to have such a positive affect on people and for that we are grateful.
